How does money found by NARS originally  become undetected, misdirected, forgotten, lost or abandoned?  Sometimes the money we find is undetected or misdirected because the money was filed under the wrong owners name or sent to the wrong address and therefore the money  cannot go to the right party and will be undetected because the agency holding the money is unaware of the incorrect spelling of the owner’s name or is unaware of the fact that the owner’s mailing address is incorrect so no changes are made to the owner’s information which means the money has been misdirected and may never be found.

We also see situations where money is forgotten, because the owners lose track of it which can happen when the owner moves out of state without giving  the party holding the money a forwarding address similarly  money is forgotten when the owners change their names, or when the owners have forgotten to claim money they were told is being held in their names.
